About

Majid “Maj
Vasigh, Esq.

If you don’t know me already and you’re visiting this page after Opposing Counsel included me on their suggested mediator list, the first thing you’re wondering is how to pronounce my name. Maj is short for Majid and is pronounced like the first syllable of “Magic.” Vasigh is pronounced “vuh – sigh.” I was raised in central Florida and speak fluent English with a slight Daytona Beach accent and fluent Farsi (also with a slight Daytona Beach accent).

Rated as a SuperLawyers Rising Star from 2016-2022, I no longer litigate. Sworn in 2007 to the Florida Bar (#42759) I started and ended my career doing primarily criminal defense litigation. In between, I spent some time doing civil litigation and in-house work for an INC 500 international internet marketing firm. After 15 years of litigation practice, the last 9 as a successful solo practitioner based in Downtown and South Tampa, I obtained my Circuit Civil Court Mediator certification (#21127R) in 2021.

I completed the Harvard Program on Mediation Certificate Course in 2021. I received my law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2007. While there I worked as a County Court mediator as part of a clinical program in partnership with the Alachua County Court clerk. My undergraduate Bachelor of Science is from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. I’ve always been interested in behavioral economics and I read or listen to audiobooks regularly on those subjects. You don’t get a degree for that, but it’s helpful in our line of work as an advocate and a neutral. Having not directly represented a Plaintiff or an Insurance company over the past 9 years, I don’t have any conflicts of interest and might be one of the most “on paper” unbiased mediators on your list. My wife is currently a Plaintiff’s attorney, though she previously was an insurance defense attorney. While this isn’t a conflict, it’s something you may want to know.

I try to be at least an above-average member of my community. I’m a Lifetime Member of the Florida Chamber’s Leadership Florida organization. I’ve been appointed twice to sit as a board member of the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners Diversity Advisory Committee. I have previously served on the board of the Tampa Bay chapter of the New Leader’s Council. I am a Hillsborough County Bar Association Bar Leadership Institute fellow, and I have served as a representative in the bar association for the Middle East and North African Bar association. During election season, I am a volunteer legal monitor during election recounts. My most productive volunteering activity was while I served as a mentor to homeless elementary school students at the Sullivan Partnership school in conjunction with Metropolitan Ministries.

I live in South Tampa with my disproportionately attractive and successful wife, Morgan, and our two rescue pit bull terriers. For fun, I’ve fully embraced the pillars of southern gentleman life: Bourbon, Boating, and BBQ.

You have a lot of choices when it comes to selecting a neutral mediator. I appreciate your consideration and I look forward to working together and earning the trust of you and your clients.
